Questions:
How Much Time Should My Child Spend on Homework a Night?
- Your child should spend approximately 40 minutes on written work, PLUS 20 minutes reading a book of their choice
- If your child is spending more than 60 focused minutes on homework let me know immediately. We will take a look at the problem together on the next day, I want your child to relax and take a break from school!
- Write me a note or have your child give me a call (752-3928), whenever there is a question on homework. Remember, most of the homework can be found online!
- Check his/her plan book nightly.
- Get into a routine. Choose a time and location that your child will do homework. Be sure your child has all the necessary supplies in order to complete their homework.
- Answer any questions your child has concerning directions...and walk away! In other words, don’t get in the habit of sitting next to your child as they complete their work. When they are done, check it over with them. Only accept their best work! Yes, neatness counts, and it is very appropriate to help with spelling and editing--let them know that you see 3 spelling mistakes, and then let them find them. This process keeps the responsibility on them!.
- If your child has a long-term project, please help them pace their work! I will let you know ahead of time if there will be any long-term project!
- I will just need the proof ;-)
